Product Roadmap

The trail ahead.

Development began in October 2025. The first Android beta followed in March 2026, and the iPhone beta in June. TrekMeet is now available in Australia on the App Store and Google Play.

See some of what you can use today and what is planned next. Plans may change as we hear from members.

Live now

Offline trail maps

Browse Australian trails, including routes walked by the founder. Save a trail's map before you go to use it without a signal.

Event discovery and creation

Browse events and sort them by distance, create a solo plan, or organise a group event as a group owner or co-organiser.

Groups and group chat

Start or join a hiking group and use event chat to organise the walk.

Solo plans and GPX

Plan a walk and import a GPX route to use on your phone. Share the plan's details by link; an imported GPX route is not included in that link.

Sharing

Share a plan, event or profile through a link with a preview page on trekmeet.com.

Direct messages

Send one-to-one messages when the recipient's settings allow it. The default is Trail Bonds only.

Trail Bonds and profiles

Trail Bonds connect members by mutual consent. Your Journey shows your walks, and your plans stay in Events.

Record a trek

Record your route, distance and time, then save the walk to your Journey.

Your Journey

Your Journey keeps recorded walks, with distance and time, on the phone used to record them. Event completions and walks you share can send a summary online.

Safety tools

On the trek screen or a live event's page, press and hold SOS for options to call 000 or your emergency contact, or share your location. TrekMeet does not watch your walk and cannot send help. In an emergency, call 000.

Notifications

See notifications about events, messages and groups. Choose the categories you want in Settings.

Live Trek

Adult organisers can share their live position with the attendees of their group walk when a connection is available.

Discover and Outdoor Whispers

Browse nearby events and trails, and read a daily Outdoor Whisper.

TrekMeet on iPhone

Download TrekMeet for iPhone from the App Store.

Event reminders

Receive reminders for upcoming events and solo plans, subject to your notification settings.

Photo sharing in chat

Share photos in group and direct conversations.

Planned next

Explorer and Trail Leader

Annual subscriptions are planned to start with Explorer on Sunday 8 November 2026, once purchasing is ready. Trail Leader is planned to follow when its organiser tools and purchasing are ready. Offline base maps and taking part in groups stay free under this plan. The first 11,000 eligible accounts created in the app before 8 November 2026 (Sydney time), including existing accounts, get Explorer free for their first year, from 8 November 2026 to 7 November 2027, with no payment, card or automatic renewal. The Product page explains the planned subscriptions.

Beyond Australia

We plan to bring TrekMeet to more countries in the first quarter of 2027. If you are elsewhere, you can leave your email on the Home page to hear when it becomes available.

What we're considering next

Conversations

Make conversations easier to follow, with message times and a way to save shared photos.

Organising walks

Give organisers more ways to share the work of running an event, manage a waitlist and keep track of who attended.

Recording maps

Improve how the map follows your position and direction while you record a walk.

Journey controls

Give members more control over who follows their Journey.

Offline photos

Let photos added after an offline walk upload when you reconnect.

Further ahead

More map choices

Add satellite imagery, detailed topographic maps and hillshade when those layers are ready.

More ways to organise

Bring organiser work to the web, support event import from Meetup, and add recurring events and organiser insights. Importing member lists is not planned.

Planning suggestions

Explore AI-assisted suggestions for walks and plans that members can review and choose for themselves. These are future ideas, not features available to buy today.

Community trail contributions

Let members contribute trails for review.

Wearables and coastal information

Explore Apple Watch and Garmin support, along with tides and moon information for coastal outings.
